privacy policy

last updated: September 2026

Cozy Catastrophe Games ("we", "us") runs this site as a small, independent hobby project. We built it to be simple on purpose — no accounts, no trackers, no ad networks, no data-intrusive stuff. We're privacy advocates at heart: we believe everybody has a right to privacy, online and off, so we don't want your data — keep it for yourself! We are trying to make our site use as little data intrusive software as posibble so we don't put people at risk. This page explains what little does pass through it and why.

our commitment

We don't want to collect personal data from visitors, and we don't intend to add analytics, advertising trackers, or account systems down the line. If that ever changes, it'll be a deliberate, disclosed change to this page — not something quietly bolted on.

who's responsible

This site is run by Cozy Catastrophe Games, an independent hobby project (not a registered company). For any privacy question or request, contact us at rutucancontact@gmail.com.

what we don't collect

There's no account system, no guestbook, and no contact form on this site. We don't ask visitors to submit their name, email, or any other personal message through the site itself.

anonymous visit counter

The little "you are visitor number" counter on the homepage increments a single shared number each time the page loads. We don't store your name, IP address, or device in the counter — it's just a running total, kept in our Supabase database. That said, loading the counter means your browser sends a request to Supabase's servers, and like any online service they may process technical data such as your IP address to run their infrastructure. We don't use that to identify or track anyone.

your theme choice

If you pick a color theme (the palette icon), that choice is saved only in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time you visit. It's never sent to us or anyone else, and you can clear it anytime by clearing your browser data for this site.

dev blog images

Screenshots and update posts in the dev blog are uploaded by us (the developers) to our Supabase storage, and are publicly viewable. This isn't visitor data — it's content we choose to post.

third-party services on this site

Even though we don't collect your data ourselves, a few outside services are involved whenever a page loads, and your browser contacts them directly (which means they can see your IP address and basic browser details):

We don't control these services and we don't receive personal data from them. Some of them are based outside the EU/UK (for example in the US), so your data may be transferred internationally under their own safeguards. Their privacy policies apply to what they do with it.

legal basis (if GDPR applies to you)

The technical requests above are needed for the site to load and display properly, so we rely on legitimate interest rather than consent. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, and we don't share it or add you to any list.

how long we keep things

The visit counter is just a number. Your theme choice lives in your own browser. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message, then deleted. Dev blog posts stay up until we take them down.

your rights

If GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted, restricted, or to object to how it's used. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Since we hold almost no personal data, this mostly comes down to emails — just write to us. For data held by Google, Supabase, Steam, or the other services above, contact them directly.

links to other places

This site links out to third parties — social platforms, Discord, and our donation page (coindrop.to). Once you click through, you're on their site, governed by their own privacy policy, not ours. We'd suggest checking those directly if you're curious what they collect.

children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, regardless of age — mostly because we don't collect personal information from anyone at all.

changes to this policy

We're not planning to add anything data-intrusive to this site. If that ever changes — say, we add a form, analytics, or ads — we'll update this page first to reflect it honestly, rather than leaving it out of date.

This is a plain-language summary written for a small hobby site, not a lawyer-drafted document. If you're planning to run ads, add analytics, or expect a lot of traffic from places with specific rules (like the EU's GDPR or California's CCPA), it's worth having an actual privacy policy generator or a lawyer take a look before relying on this page.
